Hey guys, it’s Ro, welcome to another Nerdy Nummies! I got so many requests from you guys to make something Attack on Titan themed, and I thought, we’ve never made something from Attack on Titan, so that is exactly what we’re gonna do today For those of you who aren’t familiar, Attack on Titan is an animated series, I’m watching online on Hulu

It’s about humans fighting Titans, giants, giants who eat people, so that’s not good! I decided to go a little overboard and get into the spirit, I tried to dress up as Mikasa, she’s one of the characters from the show, she is a scout The scouts are on all these little pulley systems, so they can scale big walls, they’re kind like of Spidermen They like, move around it’s really, really cool She works on the Survey Corps, and their logo looks like this… So today, we’re gonna be making Attack on Titan Tarts, with the Suvery Corps logo Let’s get started! The tarts that we’re gonna be making today are gonna have 2 types of pudding filling, we have a caramel and a milk

So the thing you’ll need for the caramel filling will be: 1 cup of whole milk, 1 cup of brown sugar, 2 egg yolks, 4 tablespoons of all purpose flour, 2 tablespoons of butter and 1 teaspoon of vanilla And then to make the milk pudding: 3/4 cup of heavy cream, 4 teaspoons of sugar, 1/2 a teaspoon of powdered gelatin, 1/8th of a teaspoon of powdered black food coloring and 1 tablespoon of water Then to decorate you’re gonna need blue and white candy melts, some chocolate chips, we’re gonna melt them to line the bottom of the tarts And I’ve got some pre-made tart shells over here Now let’s put it all together! The first thing that we’re gonna do is we’re gonna brush the bottom of the tart shells with our melted chocolate, so that they don’t get soggy! So I’ve got a little baking brush, but if you don’t you can use a teaspoon, you can scoop in

Brush the bottom, I like to use a brush because I can get a very even spread Then you’re gonna do this to the rest of your tart shells I just finished lining all of my tart shells, I set them off to the side, and now the next thing that we’re gonna do is we’re gonna make the caramel filling for these yummy little tarts So I’ve got a saucepan over here first thing that we’re gonna do is crack our eggs Remember, you just want the yolks

I’m gonna do the jiggle method, I’m getting all the egg white out, pop him over here in our pan, boop! We don’t need these egg whites, but you can save them You can make a little egg white scramble, that’s what I like to eat in the morning So I’m gonna set this off to the side, then we’re gonna add our brown sugar to the pan and our vanilla extract Now we’re gonna take our pan and our cream, flour and butter over to the stove! On a low heat, whisk together the brown sugar, egg yolks, and vanilla until the sugar melts Then whisk in the flower, until there are no more lumps

Now whisk in the milk and increase the heat to medium Stirring constantly, cook the pudding until it thickens When the pudding is thick, turn off the heat and stir in your butter Once it’s melted, remove from the stove I took the caramel pudding off the stove, I let it sit for about 20 minutes to chill, because before we put them into the tarts you don’t want it to be hot, because it will melt the chocolate filling

But now, it’s ready! we’re gonna take a little spoonful, and this caramel pudding is very rich, so you’re just gonna want a very thin layer Gonna dab some in there, dab-dab-dab-dab-dab Then I’m gonna use the spoon to flatten it Then you’re gonna do this to the rest of your tarts I set the tarts off to the side again, and now we are gonna make our second pudding, our milk pudding

It’s really easy, the first thing that we’re gonna do is we’re gonna combine our water with the gelatin, oooooooh! Take a little spoon, mix it around and we wait for it to bloom Now we’re gonna pour our cream and sugar into our pot Now we’re gonna take our bloomed gelatin, our black powdered food coloring and our pot over to the stove Turn your heat to medium and allow your sugar to melt Once the cream starts to bubble around the edges of the pot, whisk to combine the remaining sugar

Then whisk the bloomed gelatin and the powdered food coloring until the gelatin is completely melted Once it’s completely melted, turn off the heat and remove from the stove! I just took the milk pudding off the stove, and I transferred it to a measuring cup, the reason I did this is because it has a pour spigot Because we’re gonna be pouring it into our tarts I would suggest something with a pour spigot, just to make your life a little bit easier So over here, I have the tarts on top of a baking tray, the reason I’m doing this is because when you’re transferring them to the fridge… Oooooh! Any shaking can cause the pudding to spill out

And if it’s easier, you can put your tarts in the fridge right now and then pour the milk pudding Slowly pour in, cover the caramel pudding Perfect! Bewm! Then fill up the rest of your tarts Now our tarts are ready and you are gonna very carefully transfer these over to the fridge We’re gonna let them chill for about 35-40 minutes

And while they’re chilling in the fridge, we’re gonna make our Survey Corps decorations! Now it’s time to make some decorations, over here I made a template This is the Survey Corps Logo, and I just made this little template in photoshop, I’ll put a link down below if you guys want to download it and use it! I put the piece of paper underneath a piece of wax paper, I taped it down, and I just put it on the back of a little baking sheet I’m doing this so I can pick them up, and move them around, this is just what I had handy I’ve melted my candy over here, I put it in a plastic baggie with a number 1… Tip, ooop! He’s all ready, look at that! He's ready to go! That’s OK, I’ll have, a little snack! OK, so the first thing that I’m gonna do is pipe the border of the shield, and an ‘X’ I let the outline set for just a couple minutes, and now, we’re gonna do this side of the feathers! This is a very intricate design, so I’m gonna simplify it a little bit, this is totally optional, but I’m gonna pipe this feather as one whole piece

For our final details, we are gonna decorate using our blue candy melts! Here I’ve heated them up, I put them into a plastic baggie with, again, a number 1 tip at the end for a little bit more control And now we’re gonna pipe on the second part of our design, the blue feathers! Once you’ve piped all of your designs you’re gonna let them sit for about 10 minutes at room temperature But if you’re in a hurry you can pop these in the refrigerator, they will set very quickly, just a couple minutes! Oh you guys! I took my tarts out of the fridge and we have all of our designs, it is time to assemble them You want to be gentle when you’re removing your designs, I like to use a large knife, so that there’s a lot of surface area and it’s very flat And I’m gonna slowly pull the design on the edge, ooooh! Just like that! There we go! Sometimes I like to make extra designs, just in case they break, because that happens! And then I’m gonna transfer it right over here, right into the middle of our tart

AH! We did it! You guys, this looks amazing! Now we’re gonna do this to the rest of our tarts Ta-da! Here are the Attack on Titan Tarts that we made today! I’m so excited because this is the first time we’ve made a recipe for the show! They look just like the Survey Corps Logo! I’m gonna be taking lots of pictures and posting them on Facebook, Tumblr, Instagram and Twitter And if you guys make these, please take a picture and send it to me, I love seeing your baking creations, it just makes my day! And, if you have any other ideas for any other Nerdy Nummies, please let me know, leave me a comment down below and I will do my best to make it happen! Alright, thanks again you guys, bye-bye! And, now Mikasa can have one for herself! Mmmmm! Oops… Mikasa’s a little messy…
